About Me

My Photo
I am named after trees. My surname means "tall and straight trees" that used to be abundant along the rivers of a Philippine town. Hadassah is derived from the hebrew "hadas" describing a species from the Myrtle family.

Bagong Taon (New Year)

Dalawa tayong nagsindi
ng paputok na hindi sumabog
Ganun man, ikaw pa rin
ang paborito kong pangarap.
At sa ilalim ng langit na makulay,
hihiling sa dilim

Both of us lighted
fireworks that failed to explode.
Still, you are my favorite ambition.
And under the colorful sky,
I wish in the dark…

Tala, munting tala
Blangko, matalinghagang parirala
Patawarin na sana,
katahimikang nagpapahamak.

Star, little star
Blank and mysterious phrase,
forgive the silence that breaks.

Dalawa tayo’ng nagsindi
ng paputok sa bagong taon,
Ganun man, tayo naman
ang niluma ng panahon.
At sa ilalim ng langit na makulay,
hihiling sa kakarampot na liwanag

Both of us lighted,
fireworks on New Year’s Eve.
But we’ve never changed with time.
And under the colors of the night sky,
I wish in the scarcest of light…

Tala, munting tala
Blangko, matalinghagang parirala
Patawarin na sana
Ingay na hindi maipaliwanag.

Star, little star
Blank and mysterious phrase,
forgive the noise I left unexplained.
