About Me

My Photo
I am named after trees. My surname means "tall and straight trees" that used to be abundant along the rivers of a Philippine town. Hadassah is derived from the hebrew "hadas" describing a species from the Myrtle family.

Learning a new tongue

Part of my 2012 commitment is to learn a new language. Of course, I wanted to do something Asian. When I was younger and was an anime addict, I tried learning Japanese. But I never progressed beyond learning one anime theme song. Then, my brother had Bahasa and i had browsed his module. He got an F during the first term. But he was able to finish the course with his charm. I backed out and forgot about trying.

Suddenly, Korean TV series went hot. I was hooked to some. But I never dreamed of trying to learn the language. The circles seemed too much for me although I find the characters pretty. But recently, I was excited of this idea of learning a new tongue. At first, I thought it was just cool to be able to speak multiple languages. But the world seemed flatter now and we all have the chance to reach and access ideas, learn about culture, and share our thoughts with many people. If not for the language barrier, we could have rebuilt the Tower of Babel.

Kidding aside. I really want to learn another tongue. I just want to understand, that's all. But I want to do it without additional spending. So i'd rather learn Korean thru songs. Below is a link to great songs in Hangul and with romanized equivalent. Some have English translations too.

I am so looking forward to my new tongue!
